Regular, complete elimination is one of the quieter but more important markers of health — naturopathic tradition treats it as seriously as diet itself.
When waste sits in the colon longer than it should, water is reabsorbed and stool becomes harder to pass, which over time is linked to haemorrhoids and diverticular problems. The traditional advice for supporting regularity is unglamorous but genuinely effective: enough fibre from whole food, enough water, regular movement, and not delaying the urge to go.
This is also where the case for squatting rather than sitting comes in — see the separate page on squat toilets for that specifically.
Everything on this site is a personal account and a record of traditional practice. It is shared for information and reflection. It is not medical advice, not a diagnosis, and not a treatment for any disease.
If you are unwell — and particularly if you have a serious illness such as cancer, diabetes or heart disease — please stay under the care of a qualified doctor. Nothing here should replace that care or delay it. Talk to your physician before changing anything about how you eat, fast or treat yourself.
