These are the questions that come up most often about Shivambu and urine therapy generally. I have tried to answer them plainly, including where the honest answer is "the tradition says X, but there is no evidence for it."

Is it safe?

Fresh, sterile urine from a healthy person is mostly water, urea and salts, and drinking a small amount is not acutely toxic for most healthy adults. That said, urine also carries out whatever the kidneys are filtering — including any medication a person is taking — so it is not simply "safe" in every circumstance, and is not advisable for anyone with kidney disease, a urinary tract infection, or who is on regular medication, without first speaking to a doctor.

Does it actually cure disease?

There is no controlled clinical evidence that drinking urine treats cancer, diabetes, or any other serious illness. Practitioners describe benefits based on personal experience, which is real to them but is not the same thing as evidence. I record the tradition; I do not claim it as a cure.

Why do some people report feeling better?

Some conditions naturally fluctuate or improve on their own, some benefit arises from other changes made at the same time (diet, fasting, rest), and expectation itself is a genuinely documented factor in how people report feeling. None of this proves urine itself is the active ingredient.

What does the tradition say about how to start?

Practitioners typically describe starting with the mid-stream of the first morning urine, in small amounts, and often alongside fasting or dietary changes — though as with the rest of this page, this is a description of practice, not a recommendation.
